My Own Books – Volunteer Information Session
My Own Books brings book ownership opportunities to third graders in Title I schools in New York City. Volunteers serve for a total of three days per school, but you can sign up for multiple schools. Volunteers start by visiting a school to meet 3rd graders in the classroom to explain their upcoming opportunity to select and own books through this special program. The volunteers also work with the teachers to coordinate the children's trip to the bookstore. On the agreed date, volunteers meet the 3rd graders at the bookstore (Barnes and Noble) to help them choose a collection of books they will love to read. Finally, Volunteers follow-up with visits in the classroom to talk with students about the books they chose.

Volunteer Grant Research Assistant Information Session
Volunteer Grant Research Specialists help small nonprofit organizations and food pantries secure the funding they need to serve others. No grant-writing experience is required. We will provide training on a user-friendly grant research software platform and teach you the skills needed to identify funding opportunities that match an organization's mission and programs. What You'll Do: Help nonprofit organizations and food pantries think strategically about their programs, future goals and funding needs; research grant opportunities that align with their needs using a specialized grant research software CANDID (training provided); and help organizations with application process. Flexible days and hours. Volunteers are matched with a cause/organization they care about. Learn more at the information session.
