Welcome Journalists!
The Community Service Society is dedicated to the widest possible distribution of the research, policy reports, and survey information it publishes. An important part of our mission is to help journalists find the CSS data they need for their stories and to give them the background to put our data into context.
Our Communications Department is responsible for informing three primary audiences: the media, government officials and the general public. The goal of the department is to educate and influence media, government and civic leadership and public opinion to better understand issues affecting New York City’s working poor. Through effective communication of CSS’s policy agenda we work toward the implementation of policy priorities supporting access to affordable housing, jobs and health care.
The Media Relations unit of the Communications Department coordinates all written and verbal correspondence with the media, manages CSS’s electronic media properties and serves as the point of contact for information about the agency to external audiences. The department also supports the agency’s Chief Executive Officer in his role as CSS’s principal spokesperson through the preparation of materials and coordination of speaking engagements, and other activities in which he is engaged on behalf of the organization.
If you would like help using CSS data or an interview with our policy and program experts, executive leadership, or constituents, please e-mail or telephone the following:
